transit (LRT) stations on the south-east line. One of the station
designers shares an engineer’s perspective on building for
sustainability. This episode also includes part of an original song
played live by the young musicians of Edmonton’s U22 at the opening of
the McKernan/Belgravia LRT station one year ago. To view the entire

Barb’s Field Notes: Moving to the blog-o-sphere
Hi
everyone. I’ve been getting more feedback from the Made-in-Alberta
primary audience (i.e.. you folks on this list) this Season than through
the whole previous five years - combined! Thanks very much to everyone
who has written or voiced their comments, suggestions, questions and
support. Although it is taking me some time, I’m following up and
incorporating your suggestions and comments. I’m taking it slow and
steady. Made-in-Alberta is your communications network, designed for
durability and adaptability for this transitional time in our history.
The growing interactivity with the Made-in-Alberta project indicates we
are in line with other trends, locally and globally, both in terms of
subject matter and the video technologies we are using to deliver it.
I’m going to keep innovating and learn more about appropriate use of Web
2.0 utilities. I feel these could be great tools for us and will share
what I learn. Some of RBCC’s clients have expressed interest in these
tools so there is a professional development angle for me. But as you
can probably tell, I also want to see who’s interested in a more
free-form, multidisciplinary discussion about our new energy transition,
and I don’t want things to get confused with the content of the
Made-in-Alberta show, which is founded on the best and most
well-respected, local expertise in the various fields (except for the
odd “person on the street” comment). Finally, as all things new
energy are moving much faster now, I’d like to set up a quicker way
to share comments, information and experiences amongst our network.
I promised everyone a short, weekly newsletter before you signed on and
intend to keep my promise. This MIA e-newsletter will return to a
“digest” format. I’ll send out invitations and instructions to join me
in the interactive discussion as soon as I figure out what the heck I’m
doing. (It may take a while for me to do the research and get things set
up. I feel the need to move carefully. I may even start blogging about
trying to start blogging ... :)
Please continue to send your feedback. This is your communications
network. We’re continually working on it.
